On May 15-16th, ten ACEC Ohio members including Beth Easterday (center), ACEC Ohio President and the Retirement Trust’s NAECE liaison, flew to Washington DC for the first ACEC Ohio Fly-In. Working with ACEC Vice President of Political Affairs, Dave Bender, invitations to six Ohio Congressional members were extended to discuss issues impacting the industry. Using the ACEC townhouse located on Capitol Hill, Congressional members were able to stop by on their own time, including Congresswomen Beatty and Kaptur along with Congressmen Balderson, Carey, Latta and Joyce. Key issues discussed included the R&D tax amortization repeal, workforce development needs, the debt ceiling and implementation of the infrastructure bill. The one-on-one time with Ohio’s Congressional members was invaluable and the group felt positive that these members now know more about our industry and issues and look to ACEC Ohio as a resource.
